Local Governing body

ROLE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY

The primary purpose of the Local Governing Body is (in the role of 'critical friend' to the school) is to support the Headteacher in agreeing the strategic direction of the school, the proper implementation of statutory requirements and the monitoring and evaluation of the School Development Plan and targets.

In addition, the Local Governing Body works closely with the Trustees of the Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust, of which Hereward is a member, to ensure compliance with government and trust requirements.

All Governors visit the school throughout the year to conduct monitoring audits on a variety of topics and areas.  This adds to the Governing Body's understanding of the needs and issues within the school and provides a direct link with individual areas of teaching and school approaches. It also helps governors ensure that school leaders are accountable
